What a blessing and honor it is to extend to you and yours a warm welcome to the Phillips Metro family!

 

We trust when you walked through the doors of the sanctuary, you felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and that the smiles and words from our church family were just what you needed to navigate you to your seat.

 

Let us assure you that the Lord Jesus Christ is in control here at Phillips and we rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit in all that is done within every facet of our worship and daily ministries. We are a bible teaching, soul saving, prayer believing, spirit filled worshiping church.

Phillips Metro Family

The Rev. Paul Dean Everett is currently serving as the Senior Pastor of Phillips Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, in the heart of Hartford Connecticut. 

 

The Rev. Paul D. Everett is a native of San Diego, California born the 7th son of 10 boys and 2 girls.  Growing up in the foster care system of San Diego, Rev. Everett began his ministry from foster care to pastoral care.  He began his pastoral journey at the age of 12 and was licensed to preach in 1979 and later ordained in 1980 in the A.M.E. Zion Church, as an Elder.  In July 1990 Rev Everett was put on loan to the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church upon the death of the Pastor.  Two years later, Pastor Everett was transferred to First CME Church, Anchorage Alaska as the Senior Pastor and is an ordained Elder in full connection with the CME Church. 

 

Pastor Everett has served the following congregations as “Servant-Leader”:

            Currently serves as Senior Pastor of Phillips Metropolitan CME, Hartford, CT.

 

Pastor Everett is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, with a combined 23 years of military and Federal service.  He is well traveled having served two years at Kunsan Air Base Korea; four years at RAF Fairford England; three years at Edwards AFB Lancaster California; and eight years at Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage Alaska.  His military travels have included Japan; Hawaii, Iceland; Philippines; Guam; Holland; and Anchorage Alaska. While in Alaska, he was selected as an Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) recipient of the “Chaplain/Pastor” Holy Land pilgrimage in 2010 and traveled to the Holy Land for a two week learning opportunity. 

 

Appointed as the first African American and youngest Chaplain for the Anchorage Alaska Veterans Administration, he served as the Staff Chaplain for the VA Domiciliary Homeless Veterans program, providing clinical pastoral care for the Palliative Care unit, Veterans with PTSD.  Chaplain Everett retired in Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma VA Medical hospital.  He currently serves as the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Chaplain Coordinator, assisting with the Endorsement and placement as well assignment of VA, Medical Hospital, Military, Police, Business and College chaplains respectively.

 

He earned the Associates Degree in Business, Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and the Masters of Divinity Degree with emphasis in “Pastoral Care and Counseling”.  He has completed Clinical Pastoral Education and has done extensive work with assisting military Veterans and their families with grief and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  He has been featured as a guest instructor, panelist and presenter within the military and medical community addressing palliative care, grief, PTSD and homelessness. 

 

He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of North Star, Chair of the Joint Board of Finance of the New York Washington Region; member of the NAACP; life member of the Disabled Veterans Association (DAV); Veterans of Foreign War (VFW); and National Federal Employee Association; Member of the National Black Chaplains Association and Christian Counselors Association.

 

Pastor is a self-taught musician, loves to read, tell jokes, travel.  Married to the Rev. Dr. Valerie Tate Everett.
